NOW THROUGH DECEMBER 31st - The Decorative Arts Center of Ohio offers "Once Upon a Page," an exhibition of award-winning children's book illustrations from the Mazza Museum, Tuesdays - Saturdays 10am to 4pm; Sundays 1pm to 4pm; Sixty-six works will be on display, including winners of the Caldecott Medal, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award and the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. FRIDAY - Veteran's Day Ceremony - 11am; Master of Ceremony will be Ron Janey. Guest speaker will be Bo Janey, who recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq. This Veteran's Day will be the first official outing for Veteran Phil Lightfoot's veterans float. Lightfoot has been gathering names and photos this year to honor those Hocking Countians who are MIA or KIA from the conflicts in Korea, Vietnam and Iraq. There are 14 such men. The float will be parked along Market Street across from Worthington Park to allow the public to view the photos and names up close. Worthington Park, corner of Main and Market Streets.

SUNDAY - Veteran's Day Parade - 2:30pm; This year, the parade Grand Marshalls will be Robert A. and Linda K. Hartwick, parents of Army Spc. Robert P. Hartwick, who was killed in Iraq on June 6, 2011. The parade's theme is "A Soldier's Homecoming." Anyone interested in entering a unit in the parade should contact Kay Wilson at (740) 385-6204 (evenings only) or Phil Lightfoot at (740) 603-3758. The parade will form at the mall located at the corner of Front and Gallagher Streets from 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. The parade will travel from the mall on Gallagher to Main St., then down Main St., ending at Tansky Motors. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month under the mentorship of Dennis Savage and Christa Myers. Each month a theme-based contest is held and members vote for the best picture. The winner gets to pick the next month's theme. According to Christa Myers, the group "does photo critiques and uses Flickr to share photos." His Pencil Sharpener Museum, previously located at his home, has been moved to the Welcome Center and is open daily. This amazing collection of over 3400 pencil sharpeners has been featured in national magazines and is reputed to be the largest collection in the United States. DAILY (Mon - Sat) The Columbus Washboard Company Museum and Gift Shop - There is so much history from our company and building's past that we wish to share it with everyone. The tour will not only provide historical information, but will also include the opportunity to observe the manufacturing of washboards, and participate in making music with the washboard. The factory will operate daily, as usual, with our washboards being produced one at a time by hand. We are the only manufacturer of washboards remaining in the United States. Our gift shop features our washboards, memorabilia and new line of vintage soaps. The Museum is a WiFi hotspot and offers snacks and beverages, for a place to relax and take care of business. Tours will be offered Monday through Friday at 10:00am, noon, and 2:00pm; Saturdays by appointment. Special arrangements will be made for large groups. 10:00 AM *“RIDGETOPS & HOLLERS” –Ever wonder about the difference between a ridgetop and a ‘holler’? Join the naturalist at Ash Cave parking area to find out.

Saturday 8

10:00 AM *CEDAR FALLS STROLL – Join the naturalist to explore Cedar Falls and discover the unique natural & cultural history of this area of the park.

2:00 PM HOCKING’S WILDLIFE at the CABIN– As you pass by on your hike today, stop by the Naturalist Cabin to explore and take a closer look at some of our native residents. Naturalist will be available to explain and answer questions.

5-8 PM WATERLOO OWL PROWL - Join the Raccoon Creek Partnership for a winter Owl Prowl at the Waterloo Aquatic education Center. From 5:00-6:00 get cozy by a campfire, and enjoy hot chocolate and marshmallows. Our program begins at 6:00 with special guest, Hocking Hills State Park Naturalist, Pat Quackenbush. Then we will go for an evening walk and try to call in our region’s most stealthy predator, the owl! Bring a flashlight and be sure to dress for the weather. 10:00 AM *WINTER RAPTOR WATCH - Join the naturalist down at the Naturalist Cabin located behind the Old Man’s Cave Visitor Center to discover why hawks, owls, eagles & vultures are more noticeable in the winter and what makes them so special.

2:00 PM CABIN FEVER CURES – Ever wonder what the settlers did to pass time in the winter? Join the naturalist at the Naturalist Cabin to participate in some historical games & activities to help you prepare for the upcoming winter months.
